New portfolio section is under construction. I'm leaving it live while I work so you can see it develop.
Welcome to the BAsics News page. Each week I'll add any stories about the world of Business Analysis, Project Management, or any news stories that may be relevant to our profession. Eventually I will be automating this process and so it will be updated intra-day, however I'm doing it manually currently so bear with me if I only get round to updating the page once a week.
A little personal news, I have started my Masters in Business Analytics at University of Bath. I'm a couple of months in, working remotely, and I'm loving it! It's such an interesting topic, and it's also a very useful tool for a Business Analyst. I'll keep you up to date with my progress in future posts on here and LinkedIn.
The Project Management Institute (PMI) is launching a massive update to the PMP certification on 9th July 2026. This is one of the most significant shifts in years.
The Strategic Shift: The exam is moving away from the Iron Triangle (Scope, Schedule, Cost) and focusing heavily on Business Environment and Value Delivery.
Domain Rebalancing: The Business Environment domain is skyrocketing from 8% to 26% of the exam. This means PMs are now expected to act more like Business Analysts, understanding strategic alignment and organisational change.
New Core Topics: AI, Sustainability (ESG), and Agentic AI (AI that can manage workflows) are officially being added to the curriculum.
Recent reports from February 2026 show a widening gap between traditional firms and AI-enabled ones.
Operational Efficiency: Firms using AI automation are reportedly reducing costs by 40-60% while increasing client capacity.
Market Pressure: Industry observers warn that service buyers now expect AI-enhanced delivery as a baseline. BAs who aren't using tools are finding it harder to match the pricing and speed of automated competitors.
